PLEASE: Be aware of the start time and location for the meetup. We do shift around occasionally as scheduling requires, though we will try to minimize this.

We meet in the meeting room of the library. In Gahanna, this is to the right down a short hallway as you come in the first set of doors, behind the coffee stand. In Reynoldsburg, this is to the left down as you come in the first set of doors, next to the restrooms.

    • DISCUSSION 1: In what genre or genres do you prefer to write? What makes it your preferred genre?
    • DISCUSSION 2: Do you have a specific word count in mind when writing (Daily, weekly, project, etc)? What influences the length of your project?

  • Second Monthly Meetup, March 28, 2020: Gahanna Library, 4-6pm RSVP
    • DISCUSSION 1: Is there any author or authors whose style(s) you emulate while writing? Why?
    • DISCUSSION 2: Who are some other influences, major or minor, on your work? How have they affected your writing?
    • DISCUSSION 3: How have you been doing on the goals you made for yourself this year? Are there any changes you want to make, either to the goal or how you’re working to achieve it?

Winner of the Prompt Contest for each Monthly Meetup (second Saturday of the month) will receive a $5 gift card for Half Price Books and may have their response published by the Scribes.

Special Events, 2020

  • NEW OFFICER ELECTIONS
    • Submit officer nominations to daniel.houseofscribes@gmail.com through February 29, 2020. You may nominate yourself, or someone else you feel would be able to do the job well. All nominees will have the chance to accept or decline by March 25, 2020. Nominees must have held membership for at least one year, and must have attended at least three meetups in 2019.
    • The following positions are open for nominations:
      • Assistant Organizer
        • The Assistant Organizer will be responsible for arranging meeting locations and times in the absence of the Organizer. They are also responsible for facilitating the in-person meetups. Ideally, they will be able to attend at least 80% of scheduled meetups (not counting member-hosted write-ins). They are also responsible for reporting any issues to the Organizer.
      • Secretary
        • The Secretary will be responsible for arranging meeting locations and times in the absence of the Organizer and Assistant Organizer. They are also responsible for tracking attendance at the in-person meetups. Ideally, they will be able to attend at least 80% of scheduled meetups (not counting member-hosted write-ins).
    • Officer elections will be held on the Meetup site from April 1-30, 2020. The new officer(s) will take their positions starting with the May Monthly Meetup.
